UD Staff Moments:
The UD staff spends Monday – Friday at the clubhouse planning events, sorting out the calendars, answering questions and much much more. While we have built so many wonderful memories over the past 5 years, here is a sampling of great times we’ve had from the past few months.
Julia:
One of my favorite experiences in Urban Diversion was kayaking amongst hundreds of moon jellyfish at Point Reyes. I had a great kayak partner Sean and we diverged from the group and glided alongside several leopard sharks. The water was still and clear and speckled with jellyfish that you could touch. |
Sarah:
Backpacking in Big Sur was not only one of my most memorable experiences at UD, it was one of the best things I have done... ever. It was a really tough 10 miles uphill to reach our destination (and what felt like 10 miles uphill on the way back too!) but everyone worked together to keep spirits up, singing songs and telling jokes. That, with the amazing scenery, natural hot springs and sense of achievement afterwards makes it one of the top 5 things I have done in my time at UD. |
Jessica:
I love Urban Diversion because it allows me to get out of my comfort zone and try things I wouldn’t otherwise. This is especially true of my “Ready, Aim, Fire” event where I went with several members to the Richmond Rod and Gun club to shoot riffles at clay pigeons. I never even thought about target shooting before this event and by the end of the day I was comfortable holding and firing the gun. Now I want to try it again! |
Corey:
I recently spent a few weekends getting my scuba diving certification with UD members. After the certification we went as a group to the Chanel Islands for our first qualified dives. I can honestly say that this is one of the best weekends I have ever had with Urban Diversion. The people were great, the weather was amazing, and i now i can dive in some of the most beautiful places on earth. Next stop, Mexico?!? |
Lance:
Halloween Pirate Ship Party - arrrr!!! never forget the first one... 50 people dressed as pirates sailing the bay on the Pirates of the Caribbean ship, when a Mexican military training sailing ship comes rolling under the golden gate bridge. We pull along side, hanging from the ropes swords drawn acting very pirate like as they are all standing at attention on the deck looking very confused! |
Hot Summer Nights - I had no idea what to expect at this event, we just set it up with everyone throwing in their own bits. Nowhere else do you get to combine camping, DJ and dancing, all you can eat and open bar, swimming pool, and bouncy gym!!! 100 crazy, drunk idiots, singing, playing, dancing. Think Chucky Cheese meets Burning Man. |
